Patient Orientation at Hospital Lumiere – Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ
It is 8:45 on Monday morning and the doors to the Hospital Lumiere welcome center open. Patients stream in, anxious to have their needs attended to and to see the doctors. As they gather on the benches of the welcome center Pastor Jean Louis Gilbert, one of the hospital chaplains, is there to greet them. Of the fifty patients that enter the welcome center this morning, thirty five are visiting the hospital for the first time. When they are seated Pastor Jean begins a thirty minute patient orientation, sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
The orientation starts with a hymn, as voices praise the Lord in song. Then Pastor Jean begins the message, encouraging everyone to have confidence in Christ when facing trials or adversity. “Don’t be discouraged but rather have faith in God” he continues. “Faith is a weapon against our adversary Satan”. Then Pastor Jean shares John 1:12 and explains how we can become a child in God’s precious family. He concludes by expounding on our need for Jesus Christ and explaining how conversion can change lives.
When the message is concluded, Pastor Jean explains where patients should go to register and shares some housekeeping rules. He wishes the patients well and sends them on their way, but not before giving each one a gospel tract.
Hospital Lumiere is an opportunity to minister and to share the gospel. To address both the needs of the body and the undying soul. We are thankful for that opportunity and for our faithful staff members who help in sharing the wonderful message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
